Five suspects have been arrested so far
A Cox’s Bazar court has granted police three days to interrogate two suspects in the case filed over the murder of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah at a refugee camp in Ukhiya.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah passed the order after hearing the police’s remand plea on Sunday morning.
Confirming the matter, court police’s Inspector Chandan Kumar Chakraborty said police on Saturday evening had asked for seven days for the two accused -– Mohammad Selim Prakash alias Lamba Selim and Shawkat Ullah.
So far, five suspects have been arrested from different Rohingya camps at Kutupalong over the past few days. The three others are Ziaur Rahman, Abdus Salam and Md Elias.Armed Police Battalion’s (APBn) 14th Battalion Commander SP Naimul Haque said Elias was taken into custody during a drive at Kutupalong camp No 5 around midday on Sunday.Mohib Ullah, chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH), was shot dead at Lambashia camp No 1 in Ukhiya by unidentified assailants last Wednesday night.
On Thursday night, his brother Habib Ullah filed a murder case with Ukhiya police, accusing unidentified people.
Habib said he and his brother had gone to the ARSPH office after Isha prayers on Wednesday. They were accompanied by 10-12 other people. Soon after, the attackers stormed the place and opened fire on Mohib. He was shot thrice.
